ABOUT OUR PROFESSIONAL STAFF

Michael H. Fleisher, M.D., FACS, FAAP, completed his undergraduate education at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and his medical education at SUNY Downstate. His post graduate experience includes: surgical residency at Yale, urology residency at SUNY Downstate, renal transplantation fellowship at Montefiore Medical Center, and pediatric urology fellowship at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. He is a member of the American Medical Association (AMA), American Urologic Association (AUA) and a fellow of both the American College of Surgeons and American Academy of Pediatrics. In 1998, he was honored with the Sergio Award from Healing the Children Midlantic for his volunteer work both at home and abroad caring for some of the world’s neediest children. He is presently Chief of Pediatric Urology at St. Peter’s University Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey. He is also a Clinical Associate Professor of Surgery/Urology at UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and Clinical Associate Professor of Surgery at Drexel College of Medicine.
Thomas S. Vates III, M.D., FACS, FAAP, received his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine and completed his residency in general surgery at both the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. After completing his residency in urology at UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School he went on to complete a pediatric urology fellowship at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan. He is a member of the American Medical Association (AMA), American Urologic Association (AUA), the Society of Fetal Urology (SFU) and a fellow of both the American College of Surgeons and American Academy of Pediatrics. Among his honors and achievements, he received the Pfizer Scholars in Urology in 1996, and second place honors at the 1997 clinical research competition sponsored by the section of Urology of the American Academy of Pediatrics. In 2003, he was honored with the Sergio Award from Healing the Children Midlantic for his dedication to serve the world’s neediest and poorest children. He is chief of the Section of Pediatric Urology at both Monmouth Medical Center and Jersey Shore University Medical Center. He is also a Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery/Urology at UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, and Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at Drexel College of Medicine.
Lynn Guadagno, BS, RPA-C, completed her undergraduate education at CUNY Staten Island, NY. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physician Assistant studies. She received her Physician Assistant education via a joint program with Bayley Seton Physician Assistant Program, Staten Island, NY. She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants.

Lynn has worked as a Physician Assistant since 1999. Prior to joining Pediatric Urology Associates in 2010, she has experience as a PA in Orthopedics at Staten Island University Hospital and adult urology at a private practice in Brooklyn, NY.
Dawn Gerdes, MS, RN, APN-C, completed her general nursing education at SUNY Downstate and continued at SUNY Downstate to earn a Master's Degree in Maternal Child Nursing. She earned her Post Master Pediatric Nurse Practitioner certification from Seton Hall. She is a member of the Pediatric Urologic Nursing Society (PUNS) through the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Dawn has worked in the specialty of pediatric urology since 1992. She has participated in clinical research studies and has co -authored publications on various topics of pediatric urology. Prior to joining Pediatric Urology Associates in january 2009, she was a member of the Division of Pediatric Urology at SUNY Downstate. Her special interest is the evaluation and treatment of children with issues associated with voiding dysfunction, including urinary tract infections. Dawn also has extensive knowledge and experience in Biofeedback therapy.
